You can celebrate your zodiac
sign using lots of different symbols—crystals, animals,
elements, you name it. But what about zodiac flowers? After
you've called your mom to find out your birth time to get
your full natal birth chart and discussed the true
difference between a sun and a rising sign (hint: the rising
is how you come off in first impressions), you'll start to
dig into what your beloved
star sign truly means. And while birthstones and
Myers-Briggs personality types can offer some insight into
your personality, they're not exactly easy to display.
That's why we love zodiac flowers. They're showy,
expressive, and much more fun to keep on your desk. They
might even give you a much-needed boost when Mercury's in
retrograde.
Similar to the
12 birth flowers, which are based on historic symbolism
rather than personality traits, zodiac flowers are blooms
chosen to represent your star sign. They're a different set
of flowers than the ones that represent birth months. Zodiac
flowers take into account every aspect of each sign's
personality—the good and the bad. For example, Taurus (the
bull) is known for being stubborn but resilient and buoyant.
Its corresponding zodiac flower is the poppy, which fits
that description to a T.
Each zodiac flower is beautiful in its own way, so feel free
to incorporate it in your garden, your home
decor, and even in your wardrobe. They also make great
personalized gifts. Whether you need help deciding which
flowers to display in your entryway or send your Virgo best
friend, we have you covered. We're highlight all 12 zodiac
flowers ahead, along with detailed accounts of the ideas and
similarities between each bloom and the constellation it
represents.
1
Aries: Honeysuckle
March 21–April 20
Fiery Aries is known for its confident and passionate
nature. Represented by the honeysuckle, the sign takes
on new meaning with rebirth and new experiences.
Honeysuckle is one of the earliest
flowers to bloom in the spring, so it's perfect for
the sign that likes to be the first one out of the gate.
2
Taurus: Poppy
April 21–May 21
Represented by the bull, Taurus is headstrong,
compassionate, and resilient. The poppy is strikingly
similar in nature. Technically a weed, this flower is
persistent and grows in the harshest settings. It's also
a symbol of remembrance, something a Taurus knows well.
3
Gemini: Lavender
May 22–June 21
Energetic Geminis may be known for their chameleon
personalities, but they have a strong sense of self.
Likewise, lavender
plants have their signature scent but are endlessly
versatile, used for everything from attracting
pollinators to aromatherapy.
4
Cancer: White Rose
June 22–July 22
Highly emotional yet equally idealistic and imaginative,
Cancers are pure of heart and prefer to stick to what
they know. Often seen as a symbol for purity and
innocence, the white rose mirrors Cancer's sensitive and
delicate nature.
5
Leo: Sunflower
July 23–August 22
The only sign more social than Gemini, Leos are known
for being happy, social, and wildly outgoing. So it
makes sense that their chosen flower is the friendly
sunflower. Like Leos, these standout fall
flowers are not shy and prefer facing the sun (or
the limelight).
6
Virgo: Buttercup
August 23–September 23
Known for their orderly and organized nature, Virgos
often come across as shy at first. Buttercups are
equally subtle. Their vibrant yellow hue belies their
creative inner life, but buttercups are known for
blending into the background with their sophisticated
structure and design. That sounds like the Virgos we
know.
7
Libra: Rose
September 24–October 23
Passionate about justice and the line between right and
wrong, Libra is a highly engaged sign. It's fitting that
it's represented by the red
rose, a timeless symbol of peace and love. Like
delicate but hardy roses, Libras prefer a calm,
easygoing life without conflict.
8
Scorpio: Geranium
October 24–November 22
Scorpios are always showing another side of themselves. Just
when you think you know them, they reveal something new. Similar
to the many petals and blooms of geraniums, Scorpios prefer
tight bunches and small social circles.
9
Sagittarius: Carnation
November 23–December 21
Strong yet beautiful, carnations carry their contradictions with
pride just like Sagittarius. They're a match made in heaven: The
sign represented by the archer is known for being abundant and even
fiery in its affections, and the carnation is the most popular
wedding flower. Based on those seemingly random petal patterns, we
think it's safe to assume neither one likes to be told what to do.
10
Capricorn: Pansy
December 22–January 20
Hardworking and tenacious, both Capricorns and Pansies
get better with age. Capricorns love having a strong
sense of direction and working hard towards their goals.
Pansies are a popular winter
bloom that thrives even through frozen conditions.
11
Aquarius: Orchid
January 21–February 19
Despite coming across as shy, Aquarius is one of the
most energetic and charismatic signs. Plus, Aquarians
are intelligent and great problem solvers. Orchid
flowers are similarly strong yet delicate and
beloved for their exotic shape, just like eccentric
Aquarius.
12
Pisces: Water Lily
February 20–March 20
It's only natural that a water
sign (whose symbol is a pair of fish) is
represented by an aquatic bloom. Pisces are
known for their creativity and go-with-the-flow
attitude. They can also be quite dreamy and
sensitive. Water lilies prefer still, calm bodies of
water like lakes and shallow ponds where they can take root.
